At a glance
Bunga raya and frangipani sprays, geometric Nusantara borders, songket-inspired lattice, and plain chamfered bands for clients who want the depth without the ornament. We keep rubbings of roughly forty patterns in the workshop and will draw a new one from your sketch or from a photograph of a family heirloom.
Standard relief is 8 to 12mm into a 45mm leaf. Deeper cutting is possible on a thicker stile-and-rail construction, though anything past 18mm starts to affect how the panel moves and we will say so before quoting.
Carved faces are sealed rather than filled, so the tool marks stay legible. We finish in a satin sealer that sits in the recesses without pooling, or in a hard wax oil where the client wants to maintain it themselves.
